Chrismas present

Look what I've found under the Christmas tree? A heavy duty boom-stand for flash lights, with a contra-weight and all! Super!! I bet this never blows away like my other stands! (now I only need a trailer and an assistant to move all this stuff. errrrr)

Thanks Santa!

New year's Bigtwin magazine

Wow, time is flying when having fun!! Tomorrow, the januari 2010 issue of Bigtwin magazine will drop in the mail box. Is it allready that far? Oh, happy Christmas then, to you all!!

"Who's that beautiful model on the cover?" I hear you asking... Well, it's professional model Roos van Leent. I photographed her with Onno 'Berserk' Wieringa's Swedish chopper at the Bigtwin Bikeshow in Rosmalen.

Bigtwin Bikeshow part I, next month more about this great event. Also some great photo's of Limpe Iven are used.

And the road-test I dit of the Triumph Rocket III at Triumph's home-base of Hinckley!

Cool cool! Harm's beautiful classic styled Triumph! Shots are made with two studio lights and batteries on location.

About a year ago this xs650 of Wilbert was shot and now he's immortalized at the pages of BeNeLux' best biker magazine!

And last but not least, one of the most extreme bikes of this year: The Codex Gigas, made by Bozzies. This white painted Harley was difficult to photograph without having over- and underexposed bits. Couldn't have done it without strobes :-)

Jekill & Hyde Panhead

Wow! right when I thought this year couldn't be any better, we shot one of the best Panheads around - made by Sjoerd of Jekill & Hyde - in this cold last month of 2009! The wather forecast was about rain, rain and more rain... But it wasn't really that bad though.
Sjoerd is a young and super-enthousiastic bloke. He took care of this great photo-location: an abandoned building with declining roofs and everything... Oh, and the step-ledder wasn't really Arbo-approved too... Photography = dangerous!

Studio lights on location, I love it!

Who says rainy days aren't good for photography? Two bare strobes on tripods were put in the middle of a deep water puddle. I'm really glad they didn't blew away :-)

Limpe Iven in BackStreetHeroes

Limpe's xs650 chopper is in the latest issue of BSH magazine. As is a report of the German Dieselshow. Buy or die!

Bigtwin December

Cool! A action shot of Bianca with her Walz is on the cover of the December issue of Bigtwin!!

A feature of the Looney Tunes xs650 choppers. Look at the burn-out smoke coming out of the shed :-)

Bianca and her Walz

Also this month you can find a feature about making the top-yoke of project 1OFF and two pages about kustomshop K*A*R*S

Road test Sportster Iron

Harley Davidson dealer OIT in Breda loaned us this Sporter Iron for a few hours. It isn't a 100% stock one, as the exhaust & air inlet were replaced with Screaming Eagle items (as it should). The bike handles and sounds great. I hope Sinterklaas (the Dutch Santa) has a surprise for me next weekend :-)

(Photo with two bare off shoe strobes, which give the bike that white glow on the tanks)

Ray's fattruder

Planned to shoot Ray's Intruder for Bigtwin magazine at this grey dreary day... (or maybe Libelle magazine... or Story magazine?)

Just kidding! We had lot's of fun today!

Shot all photo's with two SB's plus pocket wizards

Studio @ Bigtwin Bikeshow 2009

Cool! The first time for me doing studio work... and not just a little try out or something, but about 100 show-bikes of the Bigtwin Bikeshow 2009 from each side, in detail and with the owner on it too! There are some little improvements to do for another time, but I have to admit this taste for more :-)

The improvised photo-studio. Something different than the outdoor-work that I'm used to do :-)

The desk started to look like a big collection of rubbish after 4 days

Hmmm... not bad, isn't it?

A bike of about four metres long, it hardly fitted! (this bike won the best oddity trophee, by the way)

Had some weird guests...

Also did some photo's of a professional fashion-model, thanks to www.roosvanleent.com

And I was proud to have the world's best customizers in front of my cam. These are Piet Kaggchel Customs from the netherlands!!

Also did some photo's of the bikeshow and dealer expo this year. Will update some of this stuff soon...

Motorcycle Recue

Visited Motorcycle Rescue today. These guys have passion for old Harleys exclusively! U models, Liberators and everything up to the Panhead and early Shovel is their speciality. Coincidently at the moment they were frshing-up the engine of Thunderbike's Build-A-Billy bobber. That bike is a beauty, I can tell you!!

Tomorrow is the big day! You'll find me at the Bigtwin Bikeshow in the photo-studio! See you there :-)

Ultima bobber

Most bobbers are based on old Harley V-twins. But Don from Amersfoort had other ideas! A slim-looking bobber with much horse-power was his whish and so he made this rigid Ultima-based old skool chopper!

Used two strobes to under expose the windowns at the background and fill the shades in Don's face)

Short Cut Triumph

Finally I got this Short Cut Triumph in front of my camera! Tjeerd from Short Cut Choppers is usually creates Jap-based Samurai choppers in the tradition of Bratstyle. This raw Triumph is something different than he usually does, but it's my favourite!

Two bare strobes are used to give the bike this bright look

Bigtwin november

It’s now exacly a year ago that the famous late-night photo of Philip’s BSA, made at the Scheveningen Beach, hit the cover of Bigtwin magazine. It’s this time a portrait of the Belgian guy Erkki which is on the shelves of every fuel-station and magazine-shop for a month!

Cool cover photo, isn't it? Studio lights on location did the trick.

The photo-location was the place where Erkki works. They make enormous drilling machines there for digging tunnels and holes in the ground.

Also Wally’s streetfighter/bobber Honda Shadow is featured this month. The deep blue paintwork looks great due to the studio lights which we used on location

Can’t wait to see the feature of these South East classics, owned by Melanie and Arthur. The photo looks really stylish as if it’s for a clothing-advertisement. Two off-shoe speedlights are located at both sides of the car to get this result. Although the weather was very dull and dark, the photo’s turned out crazy!

Nick is a 18 year young guy and for a low budget he bolted together this awesome old skool Sportster.

Jannot's dragstar

Jannot from Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, proofed with this clean and uncluttered Dragstar that it is possible to make a cool bobber with simple interventions. Just as happened with the primal bobbers, Jannot chopped, hacked and sawed every unnecesary part off this dragstar and so made a bad-to-the-bone bobber with hot-rod looks.

It's all about light...

Some arty farty shot of Jannot's cool helmet

Wide angle, yeah baby!!

Well, Blue...

Hi Blue, the weather in England was actually really nice, during the Triumph Rocket III introduction in Hinckley! :-)

Mock-up of project 1OFF

This weekend we taped, knotted, chewing-gum'd and tied all the crap together for a mock-up photo of project 1OFF. Few things have to be done: milling a sidemount numberplate bracket, shaping a holder for the speedo and we want some brace between the front forks... Then we fill it up with gas and ride the hell out of it!!
Isn't this the coolest bike on the planet? :-)

Milo's Dark Shadow

Believe it or not.... This bike once was a Honda Shadow! Milo saw those biker programmes on the telly and he thought that building such a chopper must be a piece of cake. He just started with his welder and grinder, tooling around in his backyard and 2x2,5 metres little shed and after 2 years this sweet rigid sickle rolled out...

Milo himself also made some photo's, in case my photo's were fucked up.

Some indoor photo's with studio lights

And some outdoor shots, with two small bare strobes.

Fighters magazine

The Nozem GSXR-1100 is now featured in das 10 jahre jubilaumsausgabe of the German Fighters Magazine, jawohl. Note the little lettres, hidden somewhere, saying: "Neuken in de Keuken". Funny joke!!

Chopper/streetfighter mix Intruder

"Nice, but yet another customized Intruder," I thought, when I saw some shitty snapshots of Edwin's Intruder. But then I visited this guy and saw this bike in real life... WOW! Everything is made in his little shed: the wheels, fuel tank, handlebar, fenders, foot controls, pipes, fork-legs... that's all? errr... no! What about one-off yokes, swing-arm, levers, single riser, rear-axle... the list continues!!! And this is just the first serious project of this talented guy!!!!

Speedlights and wide-angles, luv it!

The paint looks really bright!
