short film about Revatu Customs
I made a short movie about René van Tuil. His shop Revatu Customs, is based in Eck en Wiel (the
Netherlands). In addition to customizing and maintaining
Harley-Davidsons, the René is fabricating one-off custom bikes of a
special kind. Previously he built a pea shooter based on a stationary
engine. A second motor that he participated with in the AMD World
Championships is a massive custombike based on a water-cooled marine
diesel Arona. The term steam-punk is certainly applicable on this wicked
machine! This short film shows you Revatu Customs and hear how the
marine diesel bike is pounding!

Revatu diesel
Today we enjoyed some of the rare sunbeams in the Netherlands and took a few pics of Revatu's Arona diesel. The craziest bike I've ever seen. It's based on a ship's diesel engine and it has loads of DIY parts from around house & kitchen. It wins trophees everywhere and it's to be seen on the Wold Championship of bike building. Why? Check this bike and it's story in your favourite magazine, soon!

Dieselbike treffen Hamm, Germany, 2009
Every 2th weekend of september there is the Dieselbike treffen in Hamm, Germany. Being made curious by friend Sander, owner & builder of the famous Daihatsu chopper, we went to this cool meeting, about 180 kilometres across the Dutch border. and what cool things we saw there!!!! F*ck stream-line, let's spoil some diesel! More info: http://www.dieselkrad.info/

BMW K100 with Smart engine... Smart! The engine is leaning to the right side...

... with many kilo's of contra-weight at the left side to keep the bike in balance, hahaha :-)

Neat sidecar combi

Look what this bike has for luggage... baking oil! I assure you, that's not for making pancakes...

From the archives...
This Daihatsu dieselbike is photographed at the 2007 Rat & Survivalshow in Nottingham, England. It's one of the best treasures of the English bikescene, if you ask me! It's created by Haydn around a Charade engine and it features tons of amazing details. The bike is published in Bigtwin magazine those days. Rats are cool? Definately!

Speedpan

I stumbled across the blog of Frank, the owner and creator of the Speedpan. I've shot this bike last year, look at the heat coming off the asphalt... The engine is a one-off, just like eeh... the rest of the bike! One of the best pieces of engineering I've seen... He owns some wild hot-rods http://madfrankiefoto.blogspot.com/
Another amazing piece of engineering is this Daihatsu Diesel, made by Sander... Coincidently he owns a hot-rod too! I shot this bike back in 2006, but it's still in my top ten of the coolest bikes I've seen!
